Inspire a Fresh Beginning for Better Results!

by Cheryl Brewster

Inspire a fresh beginning! Inspiration is defined as a good idea; a force or influence that makes someone want to do something or that gives someone an idea about what to do or create.

Inspiration is a vehicle of intuition,  essential to personal development and successful business growth. It’s food for the soul! When we get stuck (which is a part of stretching comfort zones), the Power of Inspiration calms our worried minds, invigorates our pioneering spirit and fires our creativity. Inspiration is the door to infinite possibility, so let’s open it!

Are-You-Willing-To-Be-The-DoorwayIt’s downright SMART to make room for inspiration:
1. Inspiration feeds our goals – an inspired goal is far more likely to be completed than one that’s not.
2. Inspiration is the power of positive change:  if you’ve got something you’ve been avoiding or delaying, what would inspiration tell you? I guarantee some immediate answers you’d never have “thought of!”
3. Studies have shown that inspired people get more done and experience more purpose and gratitude.

To be inspired and stay inspired: sign
1. Inspiration cannot be forced… it “comes” to us… however what helps, is to make time for it…. unplug, relax, and for a few moments right now, take a deep breath and ask yourself, what inspires me?
2. Create an “Inspiration List” – in only a couple of minutes you’ll feel more invigorated and connected.
2. What does inspiration  invokes in terms of feelings and images and write/draw those too. Use the five senses to go even deeper… what song best represents this inspiration? Find it and play it. What body movement would honour this inspiration? Do it. Any sort of physical action helps to make a connection to the brain – to “lock-in” this experience, especially done repeatedly to strengthen new neural pathways.
3. Check your goals – do they inspire you? If not, re-evaluate. If however, your task must be completed, regardless of whether you feel inspired or not, ask Inspiration for its advice… what would make this task more palatable? By connecting with the feelings/images, you’ll find a greater capacity to take action.
4. Inspiration feeds commitment – rather than flash in the pan ideas, inspiration takes you through the long-haul… add an affirmation to the inspiration to fire-up commitment even further.
5. Inspiration is a component of integrity – it keeps us true to what’s important to us and shows us where we are/are not living our values – it helps us course correct and drop negative habits that have built up over time.

Inspire a fresh beginning! Whether personal development, relationships or business goals, inspiration is the energy of action, accomplishment and positive change. It keeps us in sync with the deeper meaning of life, aligned with our values and invites greater openness and flexibility. Essential to positive relationships, communication and common goals, inspiration is a key force behind successful business practices and inter-personal relationships.

 Action Step:
What would inspire you more at home and at work? What steps can you take this week to be in integrity with these possibilities? Inspire a Fresh Beginning, and engage faith, focus and follow-through to determine and accomplish the goals that feed the prosperity of your soul on all levels.

Procrastination – Busted! 5 simple steps to freedom!

by Cheryl Brewster

What’s on your procrastination list? Procrastination is heavy and binding. Left unchecked for too long, its energy field grows bigger, stronger and more difficult to dissolve. Those tiny  “later” messages can soon become “never” messages. So what to do if those procrastination habits are out of control? Take heart! It took time for them to get that way, but they don’t need to stay that way. Besides, procrastination energy is potential energy just waiting to be used differently!

procrastination cartoon

Procrastination is the avoidance of doing a task which needs to be accomplished. It is the practice of doing more pleasurable things in place of less pleasurable ones, or carrying out less urgent tasks instead of more urgent ones, thus putting off impending tasks to a later time. (Wikkipedia)

Step#1 – You CAN change so be willing to!
Start with how you FEEL about your procrastination habits. No matter how much we want to break free, we never will if we’re condemning ourselves for what got us here. And in fact, isn’t that the biggest procrastination of all? Not allowing yourself to see possibilities for something different is simply an incorrect thinking habit.  Be willing to see it that way by dropping the guilt and self-recrimination and choosing to make a positive change. The most authentic, heart-felt success stories are from people who took a serious challenge or obstacle and mastered it. The reframe here, is that you CAN bust the procrastination habit simply starting with one decision at a time and building on it.

Step #2 – Start with where you are.
Nothing feeds overwhelm more than trying to do too many things at one time. We set ourselves up for failure by not seeing where we’re simply trying to do too much. By asking yourself if you could only do one thing today and still feel successful, you create an immediate starting point! A clear path begins to emerge and you are on your way. Like the old proverb says, the journey of a lifetime, begins with that first small step… just keep taking small steps.

Step#3 – Be task specific rather than goal specific
Goals take time and are comprised of many tasks. Without accurately forecasting how long these tasks take, we can easily overcommit. Get in the habit of deciding what goal needs to be completed in a given day, week, month., etc., and then  making a task list for each. Transfer those tasks into your appointment calendar… if you’re not allotting time for tasks, how will they ever get done, how will those goals ever be accomplished?

Step#4 – Mentally and emotionally “vibrate” to your BEST feeling thoughts
Keeping the visual of a sliding scale in your mind with pain on one side and power on the other, really works! Asking yourself if this thought is leading you to feel better or worse about yourself totally transforms the energy field that created procrastination in the first place. It frees you from the trap of having your precious energy getting scattered or sucked into ineffectiveness.  Positive, empowered thought pops you straight out of the procrastination habit and straight into energized, inspired, authentic, heart-centered, appropriate action. Pain to Power thinking leads to increased personal effectiveness, prosperity and happy, inspired living.

Step#5 – Be determined to be a vibrational match to your heart’s desire
Realize there’s no other alternative left to you – if you want to be free of procrastination, then what would it feel like to do that? Feel that feeling now and be determined to confront any lesser feelings with this very powerful decision. Tangible, physical results are simply the manifestation of these invisible, empowered thought forms.  Everything is energy! Empowerment starts in thought and ends in accomplishment, so what rituals or habits help you “lock’n load” into this energy field? Be brave! Committment to what you most want, begins with making it the most important thing in your life… you can do it! Begin and keep on keeping on!

When we see our procrastination simply as a field of energy that houses huge resources of potential energy, something profound happens… that one little busting through chink in the wall of limiting beliefs gets bigger and bigger. It’s the willingness to do this type of nitty gritty work that feeds the joy of our success.  Ask any great person how they got to where they wanted to be and the answer will be universally the same… they stopped procrastinating and took action.

So what’s on your procrastination list? The opposite side of that list also exists… feel that vibe now and voila! The procrastination energy field…busted!

Fearless Action to Master Change

by Cheryl Brewster

Take Action!

What wants to move through you? That idea or project that is relentless in its pursuit of your attention and call to action. The one that keeps tapping at your shoulder, yelling in your ear and tugging at your heart… the one that says if you don’t slow down and really look at this, you’ll continue down the slippery slope of unachieved goals, regret and unexpressed creativity.

In her seminal book “Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway,” Susan Jeffers provides a powerful, clear strategy for turning pain into power. Her bottom line is that the only way to get rid of the fear of doing something is to go out and do it! So why don’t we? I love her two-fold answer… the first is education (you didn’t learn the facts about fear); the second is the reminder that every time you feel afraid, that it’s simply because you are not feeling good enough about yourself.

The  interplay here between intuition and self esteem makes sense.  Intuition is the driving need for self expression; it’s also the path through fear that takes us from pain to power.  The heart knows the way…the heart always feels good about itself… in fact it can never not feel good about itself because it’s the very essence of life,  limitless in its power. Intuition then, uses the power of the heart to shore up where we don’t feel so great about ourselves so we can move forward into action!

So how do we overcome fear and take action to follow the heart, and honour those intuitive impulses? As Jeffers brilliantly counsels:

  1. Reframe fear
Remind yourself that when you feel fear, it’s because you’re not feeling good about yourself….Fear then, can be seen as a useful marker, pointing the need and path to higher self esteem.
  1. Decide that “I’ll handle it” is your new (and only) life perspective.
When fear becomes a habit, we’ve allowed “less than” beliefs or helplessness to feel stronger than the reality of our capability and  infinitely powerful essence . When you decide that no matter what happens, “I’ll handle it,” fear dissolves!
  1. Take Action
Feeling good follows action – too often we reverse the process thinking that when we feel better, then we will act.  The opposite actually is true. Whether it’s massive action, or one tiny step, the truth is, that nothing will change without taking action.
  1. Measure results with a pain to power chart.
Check-in daily  to see if you’re moving on the chart from pain to power. If you’re not, it’s because you’re not taking responsibility for that area of your life.
  1. Practice the ABCs of Intuition.
Aware, Breathe, Connect – this simple 3-step process is the link between self esteem and action.  AWARE of the power within that’s stronger than any obstacle; BREATHE that power in and CONNECT to the heart – it knows the way…. we can trust ourselves and the process of life…. we can drop self doubt and take action from an inspired, empowered place. Self love steps out into action, no problem!

If you have a calling or intuition that you know you’re not following through on as completely as you could, ask yourself why you’re resisting or delaying. You’ll get an immediate answer. Now what is one small thing that you can do to move yourself from the pain to power chart?  Do that thing… the highest form of integrity is the noble task of honoring what wants to move through you.

Mastering Change – Even When It’s Hard

by Cheryl Brewster

If you’re like me, you love change when it’s something that you really want or have been looking forward to for a long time.  The “other” change… you know the kind… the “dreaded” change; either the one you KNOW you need to make, or the unexpected ones that you don’t want and can’t control, what do you do with THAT kind of change?

From my own experience and in researching this subject with private clients and workshop participants, these tools are effective in mastering both wanted and unexpected change whether in life or in business:

1. Know Yourself
Even good change takes energy, so are you following the basics of self care to ensure your energy expenditure is going to the appropriate places? Are you re-filling your own cup to manage change… if not, what needs to shift to make this a priority? What habits serve you well, and which don’t?

2. Breathe!
We are creatures of habit… it’s natural to feel uncomfortable with change. Acknowledging stress without judging it is hugely helpful; of course you’d feel uncomfortable based on your past patterns….and…. what can you do in this moment to make it a bit easier on yourself? What helps the uncomfortable part feel just a little (or a lot) more comfortable? A simple practice of the ABCs of Intuition is super powerful…. Aware of what’s going on, Breathing into it, and Connecting to the heart, slows things down so we can feel our center again. Simple is effective!

3. Choose Empowerment – over and over again
Often our emotions can take over and fear or the need to control the outcome can send us straight into the “spin cycle” of rash decisions on the one extreme or paralysis on the other. Asking the question, what would empowerment do in this situation and then allowing ourselves to hear the answer and feel the feeling of empowerment are split second decisions that provide immediate relief and foster healthy patterns.

If you’re like me, knowing you’re making progress in navigating “change as the new normal,” is incredibly satisfying. It’s that rock solid, “in your gut knowing that whatever comes your way, you can handle it. It’s the courage to change, answering the call to to greater awareness, creative expression and living life on your own terms. It’s Mastering Change, Even When it’s Hard.

Self Love – The Courageous Choice for Results in Life and Business

by Cheryl Brewster

What builds or destroys your relationships at home and in business?
What totally transforms how you “do” life, especially behind the scenes where no one sees you or knows what you’re really thinking?
What is your foundation, touchstone or immovable center point during times of intense challenge, emotional “spin cycles” and piercing disappointment or grief?

The answer of self love is obvious… but it takes outrageous courage to truly practice it. Today’s message is that we can do it and we must do it! Yes, ongoing improvement strategies at home and in business are important, but the first one is self love…. without self love, it doesn’t matter how educated, talented or skilled we are, we’re not going to enjoy our experiences and it’s guaranteed, that those around us won’t either. Self love takes the whole idea of  prosperity to a whole new level. (How many super stars have bottomed out at the peak of their careers? Too many to mention…. without self love we can easily fall prey to influences that don’t have our best self interests at heart).

So what can we do to build awareness of this primary component of emotional intelligence?

1. Think of someone that is super important to you, someone you love… what are your greatest hopes and wishes for them? Are you allowing yourself those very things in your own life? If not, are you willing to slow things down to make room for this new mindset and follow-through with persistent, ” thought diligence”?

2. Again, thinking of this person that you love… what would make it easier for this person to live a happy life? Again, are you making those same choices for yourself? What old thoughts would you need to drop and what new thoughts would you need to employ?

3. In knowing what you need to do in your life… can you accept, allow and forgive yourself for the times you don’t do those things? Can you see how self love can be a strategy to free up the energy, to do the things you’ve been avoiding and make them more palatable? Can you begin with noticing current bad habits and understand the need they are trying to fill? Would you be willing to let them be filled in more productive/destructive ways?

4. What authentic leader most inspires you? How would they handle a current challenge you’re having? What self talk would they be giving to themselves?

Healthy Self Love is the ultimate effective business tool; you can “feel” the vibe when someone really loves themselves and what they do… you can also feel it when they don’t. Self loving individuals are the leaders that people love to work for, the parents that truly get what’s most important and come from those priorities. Self loving men and women are brave enough to make their happiness the priority; they’re grounded, strong, integrity-based visionaries. They help others see what they cannot see for themselves.

Self Love is the ultimate relationship tool; it heals the wounded parts in ourselves and others by making good use of the triggers that set us off so we can re-frame to evolve them.

Self Love says that no matter what’s going on, we’ll be able to handle it.
Self Love takes baby steps… it reminds us that Rome wasn’t build in a day and asks us why we insist that it was, when our adrenaline junkie takes over.
Self Love has the courage to face conflict, set healthy boundaries, speak up when it’s important, and stand down when it’s appropriate.

Self Love forgives the past and puts its attention on what’s most important… an empowered awareness of NOW.

See what you don’t like about your life… and love yourself anyway… it’s the only way to create the change you’ve longed for. Will you?

Drop Anxiety to Manifest Goals! Part Two

by Cheryl Brewster

Part two of how to drop anxiety to manifest goals, is a continuation of part one where we learned that anxiety is a choice that we may or may not realize we’re making.

Awareness reveals this choice, giving us the opportunity to gradually replace anxiety with the joy of life.  As mentioned in the last post, this is easy to say, much harder to do which is why practice, practice, practice is so important. (***Please note that this article is not a substitute for medical advice. Use sound judgment; seek medical help if symptoms of anxiety persist.)

Awareness of our feelings is critical.  In his book How to be Wealthy, Healthy and Happy, Raymond Charles Barker, who influenced many leaders including Louise Hay, said that “Feeling is the most important function of life.” New thought leader Gary Zukav says the same, noting that feelings are the force-field of the Soul, and scientist Gregg Braden agrees, stating that “feelings are prayers.”

Manifestation authors Esther and Jerry Hicks echo this: “every emotion that you feel is about your alignment or misalignment with the Energy of your Source. Your emotions are your indicators of the vibrational variance between your physical Being and your Inner Being.”

Manifestation then, is using the power of positive emotion to evoke a vibrational match with your desire. Easy to say, harder to do, so how do we actually “do” this?

1. Deciding to feel good = alignment to Source
Decide that from now on, you are choosing to feel good about yourself, your intentions and goals. It sounds so simplistic, but if you’re not feeling good about yourself and your dreams, it’s because you haven’t actually decided to yet. (Try this… in this moment, if you REALLY chose to feel better about yourself, notice what happens).  Cool huh? No decision, no feeling better.  However, the better you feel, the more you are deciding to be connected to the source of Infinite Intelligence.  This is a solid foundation towards ongoing self development and personal effectiveness. Business great Napoleon Hill emphasized this constantly and is famous for saying that “all thoughts which have been emotionalized, (given feeling) and mixed with faith, begin immediately to translate themselves into their physical equivalent or counterpart.”

2. Staying in anxiety or negativity = resistance to Source
Anxious feelings like self doubt and self sabotage will come up – decide to DROP them immediately. Feeling good is “allowing” your connection to flow (infinite intelligence), while choosing to remain in a negative vibe is resisting that flow. We get better with practice, can you be willing to keep letting go of your resistance? Start with willingness… that’s enough to begin with.

3.  Create the habit of feeling and seeing the end result before it actually occurs.
Strong emotion combined with clear visual images utilize the power of the subconscious mind. Done consistently, focusing on what we DO want, rather than what we don’t want, works. You know this from experience… so keep doing it! Feeling good now doesn’t have to wait until the goal is completed… in fact, the goal gets completed “because” we feel good now. We will always have new intentions, dreams and desires… they will never end, so the point is to “enjoy the now” as much as possible, by making that “now,” as interesting, fun, creative and fulfilling as we can.

4. Course correct as quickly as possible.
Be kind to yourself and get back on track as quickly as you can… the idea here is to be like a gun slinger….course correct as quickly as possible and drop any need to self-punish or self-sabotage. Just keep doing it again, and again, and soon your focus is always on target.

5. Use your Imagination
During those times when it feels difficult to switch from anxiousness, use your imagination… remember, the solution already exists… make room for it… use the ABCs of Intuition to slow your breathing and bring your awareness to the solution so it can “pop” in. What visual will you use? Make a movie in your mind… how does the main character triumph? Or, imagine sitting under a tree and watching all the leaves and branches holding countless solutions and possibilities… which one will it be? Remember, this is not about figuring anything out, this is about allowing something new to pop in. It may happen right away, or most likely later when you’re doing something mundane… that seems to be when most eurekas hit.

6. Stay Mindful
One of the best definitions of mindfulness comes from Jon Kabat-Zinn, the founder of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. He says that mindfulness is, “paying attention on purpose, in the present moment, and nonjudgmentally, to the unfolding of experience moment to moment.” The beauty of mindfulness is that on those days, where accessing our better feelings and thoughts is not immediate and takes time, we learn to accept. Acceptance honors the experience as an unfolding, without judgment which ultimately leads to peace through surrender. Now that’s what I call a vibrational match to awareness.

Manifesting goals requires action on our part… it starts with the power of intention; choosing to feel good about ourselves reduces the resistance we may or may not know we have and leads to inspired action. Anxiety is an indicator of that resistance; by appreciating the indicator, we have a powerful tool… awareness and choosing to match our feelings to what we most desire is healing, powerful and effective.  It can sound too good to be true, however, the Law of the Universe is built on Harmony…. all we’re doing is returning to our true creative nature… and that is the most natural thing in the world. Learning how to manifest then, becomes a joyful, easy process when we decide to make it that way.

Drop Anxiety to Manifest Goals! Part One

by Cheryl Brewster

What if you could  drop anxiety to manifest goals more easily…don’t you just love that kind of juiciness?! Materializing that goal or desire and basking in the rush of exhilaration is mind-blowing; nothing is sweeter than a job well down and our own triumphant claim of “I did it, I really did it!”

Between the juiciness of manifesting those little and big goals is a quiet contentment  that is born from only one thing: consistency of practice. Practice, practice, practice is what I mentor to myself, my coaching clients and teach in my seminars. It’s easy to get comfortable and forget to  practice manifesting, and all too quickly we find ourselves exchanging the triumphant “I can” to the defeated “I can’t”. Soon, that sweet sense of self confidence and joy has turned to despair, a devastating downward spiral into full, blown-out anxiety.

All the great mystics, philosophers and business gurus have said the same thing… in sincere self development, our consciousness evolves. This means that old, ineffective thought programs are going to surface for removal… that’s good! So rather than be overwhelmed and anxious when they do, we can learn to welcome these  insights more easily.  We must practice awareness of uncomfortable feelings as evolution rather than revulsion. One of the Laws of the Manifestation is that every single thought we have effects physical reality! It makes sense then, to think and feel with an “I can do it attitude”.  With this kind of unrelenting trust, we evolve our  awareness and keep a direct, clear pipeline to the solutions inside of us.  From this healthier thought perspective, right thinking, right action and a sense of deep, meaningful connection in the process emerges.  That’s manifestation! Not only of tangible, measurable results, but also manifestation of peace and empowerment in the process. Easy to say, much harder to do which is why progress, not perfection is such an important mantra to remember.

So how do we deal with anxiety when an “evolutionary insight” is upon us and it feels impossible to control the resulting tidal waves of negative thoughts and emotions? Vernon Howard, a direct no-nonsense, awakened teacher nails it with this wisdom:

  1. Anxiety breeds anxiety.
  2. Anxiety is a hoax that you don’t see as a hoax! It appears valuable but it’s not, yet most people don’t want to lose it!
  3. Anyone who retains anxiety prefers anxiety.  Whoa! Here’s why:
  4. First, because worry and desperation supply a false feeling of life… they create an emotional agitation that poses as real life, but it’s not!  Secondly, we don’t drop anxiety because we fear rejection.
  5. The very repetition of a worry or frustration indicates an unseen preference for it. Whoa!
  6. When you begin to honestly see that you don’t want to lose your anxiety, you actually start to lose it!

Wow! I love this direct, no-nonsense thinking – it has made a huge impact on my life, and neuroscience proves it… did you know that 95% of our thoughts are controlled by our pre-programmed subconscious mind? Instead of “actually thinking,” we’re really looking at movies of the past and responding to them in the present.  We are hypnotized by past defeats and as manifestation author Pam Grout puts it:  “the problem is not being hypnotized, the problem is not being willing to shake it off.” She says that mental confinement is not permanent because it can be conquered by the spiritual.  I couldn’t agree more!  “Say good bye to useless thoughts, because this is the problem – you don’t see your useless thoughts as useless.”

The reason we don’t drop useless thoughts is because we don’t know what will replace them. We’re afraid to step into the unknown. Here’s the analogy… a prisoner of war escaping from a POW camp faces huge difficulties, stepping into the unknown without a map, yet despite all the difficulties he finds his way home because he remembers where he wants to go. Same for you, when you remember where you want to go,  you are willing to meet your past programming head on and call it out. You  soon realize that anxiety is a fundamental waste of life and refuse to let it keep its hold. You choose to drop anxiety through an empowered “I can do it” attitude through practice, practice, practice.  Imagine…  all that energy that was previously draining your soul now feeds it to design your life rather than suffer through it.  That’s manifestation! As Thoreau said:  “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams… live the life you’ve  imagined.”

***Please note that this article is not a substitute for medical advice. Use sound judgement; seek medical help if symptoms persist.

Homework to confidently “drop anxiety to manifest your goals”:
As a teacher and student at heart and I know that unless we are willing to shake things up and apply these concepts  we’ll never know if they work or not.  We’ll never integrate them because we haven’t proven them from our own experience. We’ll never really trust ourselves and keep looking outside rather than inside. The nitty gritty of manifestation is that it’s personal. It’s a form of transformation, that makes the intangible tangible through right thinking, trust and practice. So here you go, here’s your “Manifestation Homework”.

What are the the key points in this article that resonated for you?
Are you willing to really apply these points to your life?
What will you now do differently?
Are you willing to see and drop your useless thoughts?
Are you willing to drop your preference for anxiety?
Are you willing to see that this takes time, that it is a process and that you must be patient?
Are you willing to be patient and present with what is here now – to be in the evolution rather than the revulsion that awareness brings?

Mindset – the Domino Effect- be Careful What You Think!

by Cheryl Brewster

As any business person will attest, our intuition is a highly attuned success mechanism. Napoleon Hill of Think and Grow Rich stressed its importance as a natural ability that’s right 100% of the time. However, have you noticed what happens  if you don’t  tend to your mindset? The weeds of distraction, overwhelm, worry and stress can skew your intuitive discernment, gut instincts, emotional guidance system, ability to think clearly and plan effectively.  The effects of unconscious thinking or emotional overwhelm can be devastating to business and personal life.

We all know that we can tap in deeper into our Inner Genius to create greater prosperity on all of life’s levels, so why don’t we? In one word…. mindset… especially when it’s charged with negative emotion.

Emotions are vibrational indicators as to how much we’re “allowing” our Inner Genius to lead. This same power is what Napoleon Hill of Think and Grow Rich, refers to as “Infinite Intelligence,”  the incredible force that holds vast galaxies in space, holds the solution to every problem there is, and is the source to all prosperity, available to us 24/7.  However, if we’re not feeling that great about ourselves, if we’ve gotten caught up in a cycle of worry, fear, or anger, we’re greatly restricting our access to the wisdom and guidance of this Master Mind. We’ve forgotten to turn the tap of our Inner Genius “on,” and we’ve certainly lost track of how to “keep it on.”

Hill describes this beautifully with a universal principle call Cosmic Habitforce:
Cosmic Habitforce is the law which makes every living creature, every particle of matter subject to the influence of its environment – it can work for you or against you. The choice is yours….  If your dominating mental habits are thoughts of poverty, then cosmic habitforce will bring about poverty in your life. If your dominating mental habits are of prosperity and peace, Cosmic Habitforce will bring them about. There is an endless cycle here…your thoughts are the only thing you can completely control if you decide to do so. You must control your thoughts to control your habits.”

So how do we get better at having our Cosmic Habitforce work “for us” and not against us?

  • Intentionally choose a better feeling thought… tiny, better feeling thoughts built on top of one another, creative a huge cascade effect in shifting our vibration from the negative to the positive. The domino effect of small consistent change is huge!
  • Here’s a great metaphor:
In this video of the power of physics, the first domino is so small, that tweezers must be used to put it in place…. With the domino effect, this tiny, tiny domino in 13 short moves, topples over a domino that is 3 feet tall weighing one hundred pounds! (By the way, if there were 15 more dominoes here, you’d be looking at something the size of the Eiffel tower!)

Wow… there’s only 13 dominoes in this demonstration, yet two billion more times force is created! Imagine this as a metaphor for your thoughts and feelings and how they create Cosmic Habitforce! The tiniest negative thought can create two billion more times force (no wonder you feel stuck in your negative thinking)!!!! But on the same hand, a tiny, tiny, better feeling thought triggers another better feeling thought that can totally change the results in your life because of how GOOD you feel in this one tiny little moment!

Thoughts and feelings are energy – they comprise Cosmic Habitforce! The question is… if they’re such a powerful force… doesn’t it make sense to focus them in positive ways for GREAT results?

Intellectually we know these things but if we’re not applying the Power of Intention, then:
a) we don’t really believe in the power of accessing our our Inner Genius, the Master Mind
b) we haven’t decided to yet
c) we haven’t practiced it enough to work effectively with Cosmic Habitforce to create powerful, meaningful results.

focusPractice makes Perfect! Here’s an experiment to try this week:
Pick an important project in your life… identify your desire…what’s a tiny, tiny, good feeling thought you can bring to it… and the next, and the next…. you’ll find that from this great vibe state, ideas or inspirations will arise and suddenly you’ll be taking an inspired action, that leads to another, and another, until your project is completed and you’ve developed positive habits to keep building on.

The power of this type of mindset and the willingness to practice it results in two very important things:
a) not only does the goal reach completion, but the process is more creative, dynamic, exciting, compelling and enjoyable
b) ineffective habits are replaced with more productive, healthier ones.

Intuition is a highly attuned success mechanism, but it like anything else, its application gets better with practice… and so too does the power of personal self mastery through emotional intelligence.  Self Awareness and Intention to strengthen that Cosmic Habitforce are key. Now what affects can this have in your personal life and in your business? Practice, practice, practice!

Game-changer: The Difference Between a Goal and an Intention

by Cheryl Brewster

What is the difference between a goal and an intention? The answer can be a real game-changer when it comes to personal and professional effectiveness. The 5 strategies to effective intention setting are listed further in this article but let’s begin first, with understanding the differences.

A goal is a fixed outcome, while intent is the energy behind the goal; the desire, process or the “why” that gives meaning not only to the goal itself, but the experience we have in the process. Intentions are based on values, principles and “ways of being” that happen in the now, while goals are measurable, specific outcomes in the future.

The etymology of the word Intention comes from Old French (4c.) meaning “stretching, intensity, will, thought” and from Latin (12c.) “a stretching out, straining, exertion, effort; “to turn one’s attention,” literally “to stretch out.”makeithappen

Intention, then is:

  • the “juice” or the “why” behind the goal – the deeper meaning and importance, the stretching of our imagination, creativity, innovation and “what if” thinking.
  • the focus or mindset behind the goal: attention to the wow factor that excites, inspires and beckons us forward; in other words, big rather than little thinking.
  • creating something out of nothing, or totally transforming a heavy “have-to feeling” to something totally transcendent and profound, creating a greater result or experience than was previously imagined.
  • comes from the infinite intelligence or universal consciousness that has all the solutions we need.
  • the reason or “mindfulness” behind the goal. Mindfulness defined is “paying attention in a particular way; on purpose, in the present moment, and non judgmentally” (Jon Kabbat-Zin).

“Intention operates outside the boundaries of normal space and time; it is the great organizing and unifying force of the universe; infinite in scope and duration. It allows us to imagine beyond the boundaries of what local mind sees as “possible,” to think” outside the box and to believe in miracles.” – Deepak Chopra, The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire

From these perspectives, we begin to see where goals without intention can actually be limiting or even harmful:

  1. Too often, we set goals without digging deeper to define the why, importance or relevance of the goal, thereby missing out on the bigger picture and putting our energy in the wrong places. Goals lacking lustre won’t sustain themselves, setting us up for failure or negative experiences.
  2. Goal setting can reinforce a scarcity rather than prosperity mentality, (oh my gosh, how am I going to achieve this?!), trigger performance anxiety and keep us stuck in the “how-to or where do I begin cycle.”
  3. Goals without intention can carry a dangerous “all or nothing” mentality and end up hurting rather than harming. Example; a stressed-out mother who’s expecting company and needs to get the house tidy… the goal in itself is valid, but if it is achieved at the expense of yelling, screaming and scaring her kids half silly in an attempt to get everything done on time, then the goal has been achieved but at what cost? The mom has totally missed the far reaching impact of intention… values in the experience she wants to have, and principles of a healthy example to her children. The same can be said of business and sales quotas…Too much emphasis on the goal at all costs, and soon the greater potentials of creativity, innovation and flow become victim to deadlines and policies that end up hurting the company, diminishing results and even putting its existence in jeopardy. Intention then, invites integrity and greater awareness in both setting a goal and completing it with sustainable outcomes and methods that avoid burn-out and negative consequences.

Intention aligns us with our inner creative intelligence… we begin to let go of our egoic-controlling ways and surrender to the greater answers inside us… over time, the more we work with intention, the more we let this greater intelligence “take the lead” in our lives. We begin to have the revolutionary experience of realizing that we are “not” the doer, but rather the vehicle through which the great Doer (creative intelligence) moves through us.

Goal setting has its place for sure, especially in business and working with groups with a common cause. However as we work with intention, we find goals become more organic… They appear as ideas and inspirations that take on a life force of their own, literally completing themselves. They offer a reprieve to any heavy “must, have-to, resistance” feelings that traditional goal-setting can bring. If anything, intentions ensure our goals come from the heart and soul of who we are; they instill a sense of wonder and awe in their accomplishment so that even the tasks we don’t like take on a richer hue; they can even become things we’re excited about, rather than things we dread. We begin to see the correlation between mindset and intention… previously difficult or unattainable goals are seen in a new light and negative spirals go from “I can’t to I can” through creative, inspired, positive action.

In drawing on the  dependable, infinite creative intelligence that is ALWAYS here, we are assured of effective, tangible results with these 5 key action steps:

  1. Have a very clear image not only of the outcome you want to create, but what you want your experience to be RIGHT NOW.
In other words, rather than focus on the goal, focus on the consciousness or mindset behind that goal… how would this mind of infinite possibility think? Bring that future event into the present by thinking the thoughts and feeling the feelings NOW that would create this kind of result. This is the “stretching-out” of your imagination and aligning with the power of the subconscious through thought and feeling. Examples could be:
“I love having this mindset that gets things done in ways that effective, fun and efficient!”
“I love what happens when creative intelligence takes the lead to accomplish these tasks!”
“It feels so good having this “I can do it!” mindset… wow… I can and I AM doing it!”
  2. Have fun visualizing the details!
Science tells us that the brain can’t tell the difference between imagination and reality… as you visualize this as already happening, you are firing up the cortex in your brain so this mindset becomes the norm rather than the exception… you are expanding success consciousness. The subconscious accepts what’s impressed upon it with feeling. So have fun FEELING the joy, excitement and passion of accomplishment now. Mind first; ideas become physical matter through visualization. You know this intellectually so don’t fool yourself… knowing and doing are two different things!
  3. Act as if your goal has been achieved already and repeat, repeat, repeat this amazing feeling throughout the day!
The conscious mind needs to be reminded that the creative intelligence inside now has the lead… all things are truly possible… this kind of consistent focus, with with repetition action yields cumulative results. Since your self image is determined by what the subconscious has accepted as true, you are power-housing your self image… you begin to truly own your own value…you have not only accomplished this goal, gotten a result; you have changed at your core… you have created and reinforced success habits that are in alignment with your values and integrity.
  4. Kill the ANTS! (Automatic Negative Thinking System)
Coined by Dr. Daniel Amen, known as the Brain Doctor, recognize the army of ANTS (Negative Thoughts) that are released from the limbic system when you are stretching your comfort zones…. First, Identify the ANTS (Automatic Negative Thoughts) and talk back to them – i.e. challenge them, get rid of them! Exterminate the ANTS:
ANT 1:  Always / never thinking (no one, everyone, every time, everything)
ANT 2:  Focusing on the Negative (seeing only the bad)
ANT 3:  Fortune Telling (predicting the worst outcome)
ANT 4:  Mind Reading (thinking you know what others are thinking)
ANT 5:  Thinking with your feelings (believing negative feelings w/o question)
ANT 6:  Guilt beating (Should, must, ought to, have to)
ANT 7:  Labeling (attaching negative labels to yourself or others)
ANT 8: Personalizing (thinking other’s behaviors have something to do with you)
ANT 9:  Blaming (fault finding and not taking responsibility for self)
  5. Create Your Day and Celebrate It!
Nothing is more inspiring than waking up each morning and creating your day from this place of Inspired Intention. A wonderfully light mindset begins to emerge… it’s like reminding ourselves… “oh right, I can really live my life like the adventure that it is.” Too often we allow ourselves to get bogged down and distracted rather than keeping a very clear intention of “how” we want to live.  Goal setting definitely has its place, but if not initiated by our creative intelligence, it becomes just another “to do” on a very long list of potential life-sucking demands.  By creating your day in the morning with intention, imagination and inspiration, things happen, synchronicity occurs, challenge that once drained your soul now feeds it, and obstacles that were once difficult take on an “I can do it!” attitude. Celebrating these mindsets, goal accomplishments and attitude changes are important too… they’re like internal soul markers in the sand… lines drawn that say, “see this?! I did it!” Whatever the reward is, it’s important to have it in mind at the beginning of Intention or Goal Setting and enjoy looking forward to it.  Can you imagine living each day with this type of mindset, built up over time, intending, celebrating and enjoying the many riches of this extraordinary life!

We don’t all start out living our lives this way… I know I didn’t! Each day is a decision to live from the divine within… Intention setting and accomplishing goals takes practice, effort and a willingness to surrender into something far greater than our current experience. It can be extremely challenging, but it’s so worth the effort, the “juice” that fuels the action, and that’s the true Game-Changer: The difference between a Goal and Intention!

The Power of Intention – Use Challenge to Feed Your Soul Not Drain it Dry!

by Cheryl Brewster

Why is Intention Setting so powerful? Imagine that from now on, your attitude towards any challenge in life is that it’s here to feed your soul, not drain it dry! How different would your life look? Would you have more energy? Would you feel more able to cope with life’s small challenges and big adversities? Obviously yes!

The Power of Intention – use challenge to feed your soul, not drain it dry! Used properly, intention is really the decision to harness the power of infinite intelligence within. In his book The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire, Deepak Chopra refers to Intention as the very basis of creation and quotes the ancient Vedic texts known as the Upanishads:

“You are what your deepest desire is.
As is your desire so is your intention.
As is your intention, so is your will.
As is your will, so is your deed.
As is your deed, so is your destiny.”

Vancouver based Naturopathic Doctor, Adam McLeod ND, molecular biologist, internationally renowned energy healer and best selling author, who’s taught healing through intent around the world, reports that studies have proven that intention affects physical matter, including DNA, which is “why we need to update the software in our minds!”

How do we do update the software in our minds?

1. Decide!
Actually take the time to consciously and deliberately make the decision, that from now on, rather than deplete your soul, challenge will feed it.

2. Believe!
If you have this genius mind within you, which you do, then every time challenge comes up, your job is to re-frame the challenge; rather than being a threat, something to worry about, be afraid of or victim of, how is this challenge asking you to deal with it from the universal intelligence within you?! You must accept once and for all that you are spiritually equipped to meet every situation in your life.  Once you do, you are transforming the old pattern of “I can’t” to “I can!”

3. Pay attention to synchronicities (meaningful coincidences) and follow through on them.
The universe is giving you clues all the time… your job is to notice them, look for the pattern, contemplate their significance in your life and follow through on what both your intuition and these coincidences are telling you.  There’s a bigger picture emerging here and it’s got only your success/potential in mind! Keep a journal specific to synchronicity to see the pattern and you’ll notice where you are/are not following through with the actions that you need to take. We most often know things intellectually but haven’t quite owned them emotionally. That’s why intent is so powerful, it ignites and fosters the action steps required for follow through!

4. Stop regurgitating the past and decide to be happy…. NOW.
And don’t postpone your happiness until your goals have been reached! As Esther Hicks, author of The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent points out: the better you feel, the more you are allowing your Connection to Source.  The worse you feel, the less you are allowing it. The most important decision you can make is to deliberately choose to feel better… it leads to flow, creativity, increased self-trust and  sudden insight for that next right step that cannot be absorbed in a mind cluttered with negative thinking. Be the person you wish to become now… how would that person think, act, speak, respond to this situation, etc?

5. Create Regular Intention Setting Ceremony for yourself and/or with others (in business we call it Mastermind)
Nothing is more powerful than an “action” that you specifically create to demonstrate your decision – it can be as simple or as complex as you want to make it, it really doesn’t matter as long is it has meaning or significance for you….  done in a group, the power of intention is magnified even more. Ceremony can be as simple as writing a letter to yourself or more intricate including spiritual treatments, prayer, affirmation, meditation, etc.

Repeated intentions create habit… as you apply the power of intention, you reinforce the habit of using challenge to feed your soul. Imagine the repercussions of habits that help you to handle overwhelm, use challenge effectively and make empowered decisions!
