Mastering Change – Even When It’s Hard

by Cheryl Brewster

If you’re like me, you love change when it’s something that you really want or have been looking forward to for a long time.  The “other” change… you know the kind… the “dreaded” change; either the one you KNOW you need to make, or the unexpected ones that you don’t want and can’t control, what do you do with THAT kind of change?

From my own experience and in researching this subject with private clients and workshop participants, these tools are effective in mastering both wanted and unexpected change whether in life or in business:

1. Know Yourself
Even good change takes energy, so are you following the basics of self care to ensure your energy expenditure is going to the appropriate places? Are you re-filling your own cup to manage change… if not, what needs to shift to make this a priority? What habits serve you well, and which don’t?

2. Breathe!
We are creatures of habit… it’s natural to feel uncomfortable with change. Acknowledging stress without judging it is hugely helpful; of course you’d feel uncomfortable based on your past patterns….and…. what can you do in this moment to make it a bit easier on yourself? What helps the uncomfortable part feel just a little (or a lot) more comfortable? A simple practice of the ABCs of Intuition is super powerful…. Aware of what’s going on, Breathing into it, and Connecting to the heart, slows things down so we can feel our center again. Simple is effective!

3. Choose Empowerment – over and over again
Often our emotions can take over and fear or the need to control the outcome can send us straight into the “spin cycle” of rash decisions on the one extreme or paralysis on the other. Asking the question, what would empowerment do in this situation and then allowing ourselves to hear the answer and feel the feeling of empowerment are split second decisions that provide immediate relief and foster healthy patterns.

If you’re like me, knowing you’re making progress in navigating “change as the new normal,” is incredibly satisfying. It’s that rock solid, “in your gut knowing that whatever comes your way, you can handle it. It’s the courage to change, answering the call to to greater awareness, creative expression and living life on your own terms. It’s Mastering Change, Even When it’s Hard.

To be continued…. (or if you can’t wait, contact Cheryl to book a personal intuitive session)!

Mindset – the Domino Effect- be Careful What You Think!

by Cheryl Brewster

As any business person will attest, our intuition is a highly attuned success mechanism. Napoleon Hill of Think and Grow Rich stressed its importance as a natural ability that’s right 100% of the time. However, have you noticed what happens  if you don’t  tend to your mindset? The weeds of distraction, overwhelm, worry and stress can skew your intuitive discernment, gut instincts, emotional guidance system, ability to think clearly and plan effectively.  The effects of unconscious thinking or emotional overwhelm can be devastating to business and personal life.

We all know that we can tap in deeper into our Inner Genius to create greater prosperity on all of life’s levels, so why don’t we? In one word…. mindset… especially when it’s charged with negative emotion.

Emotions are vibrational indicators as to how much we’re “allowing” our Inner Genius to lead. This same power is what Napoleon Hill of Think and Grow Rich, refers to as “Infinite Intelligence,”  the incredible force that holds vast galaxies in space, holds the solution to every problem there is, and is the source to all prosperity, available to us 24/7.  However, if we’re not feeling that great about ourselves, if we’ve gotten caught up in a cycle of worry, fear, or anger, we’re greatly restricting our access to the wisdom and guidance of this Master Mind. We’ve forgotten to turn the tap of our Inner Genius “on,” and we’ve certainly lost track of how to “keep it on.”

Hill describes this beautifully with a universal principle call Cosmic Habitforce:
Cosmic Habitforce is the law which makes every living creature, every particle of matter subject to the influence of its environment – it can work for you or against you. The choice is yours….  If your dominating mental habits are thoughts of poverty, then cosmic habitforce will bring about poverty in your life. If your dominating mental habits are of prosperity and peace, Cosmic Habitforce will bring them about. There is an endless cycle here…your thoughts are the only thing you can completely control if you decide to do so. You must control your thoughts to control your habits.”

So how do we get better at having our Cosmic Habitforce work “for us” and not against us?

  • Intentionally choose a better feeling thought… tiny, better feeling thoughts built on top of one another, creative a huge cascade effect in shifting our vibration from the negative to the positive. The domino effect of small consistent change is huge!
  • Here’s a great metaphor:
In this video of the power of physics, the first domino is so small, that tweezers must be used to put it in place…. With the domino effect, this tiny, tiny domino in 13 short moves, topples over a domino that is 3 feet tall weighing one hundred pounds! (By the way, if there were 15 more dominoes here, you’d be looking at something the size of the Eiffel tower!)

Wow… there’s only 13 dominoes in this demonstration, yet two billion more times force is created! Imagine this as a metaphor for your thoughts and feelings and how they create Cosmic Habitforce! The tiniest negative thought can create two billion more times force (no wonder you feel stuck in your negative thinking)!!!! But on the same hand, a tiny, tiny, better feeling thought triggers another better feeling thought that can totally change the results in your life because of how GOOD you feel in this one tiny little moment!

Thoughts and feelings are energy – they comprise Cosmic Habitforce! The question is… if they’re such a powerful force… doesn’t it make sense to focus them in positive ways for GREAT results?

Intellectually we know these things but if we’re not applying the Power of Intention, then:
a) we don’t really believe in the power of accessing our our Inner Genius, the Master Mind
b) we haven’t decided to yet
c) we haven’t practiced it enough to work effectively with Cosmic Habitforce to create powerful, meaningful results.

focusPractice makes Perfect! Here’s an experiment to try this week:
Pick an important project in your life… identify your desire…what’s a tiny, tiny, good feeling thought you can bring to it… and the next, and the next…. you’ll find that from this great vibe state, ideas or inspirations will arise and suddenly you’ll be taking an inspired action, that leads to another, and another, until your project is completed and you’ve developed positive habits to keep building on.

The power of this type of mindset and the willingness to practice it results in two very important things:
a) not only does the goal reach completion, but the process is more creative, dynamic, exciting, compelling and enjoyable
b) ineffective habits are replaced with more productive, healthier ones.

Intuition is a highly attuned success mechanism, but it like anything else, its application gets better with practice… and so too does the power of personal self mastery through emotional intelligence.  Self Awareness and Intention to strengthen that Cosmic Habitforce are key. Now what affects can this have in your personal life and in your business? Practice, practice, practice!

If you enjoyed this blog, please share it! To stay inspired and support in these practice tips, be sure to sign up for our newsletter and inspiring quote of the day at TheIntuitiveLife.com

So Many Choices

by

Do you ever wonder if you are in the right place? If you made the right choice? I do.

So many choices these days. From what time to get up, to what to eat, to what to buy, to how to spend your time, to who to spend it with….to what time to go to bed. And everything In between. I was having a “am I in the right place” kinda moment back in September 2012 and I am still reminded of it often as I go through my life making all of these choices.

I had just finished a Diva Date Night with Cheryl Brewster where she had us choose an inanimate object and focus on it and “test” the universe to see if in fact we are guided in some way (synchronicity). I was not a total disbelieve, but I was skeptical for sure. So I picked a random shell and I visioned it in my minds eye very specifically. The shape, the colours, even the sizing was pretty clear to me. I left that night having had a good night and felt good about what I learnt and that I loved and enjoyed Cheryl and the rest of the Conscious Divas Community, but didn’t think too much more about it.

Fast forward a few days and I am sitting in my first Coaches Training Institute (CTI) class and I am wondering if I was meant to be here or not. This felt good, but scary and a dream that at one time felt impossible. I look up and I see a picture of these shells framed on the way. My breath was taken away. No. This couldn’t be happening. I felt a wave of excitement and disbelief and awe that I was in fact being supported by the universe in my ability to take action on my dreams. And then the skeptic kicked in – my gremlin voice – “no, this is just a coincidence it said. At first chance I lept out of my seat and went to every conference room on this floor in the hotel. It was probably all over the place, right? Nope. Not one like it everywhere in the hotel. I also came to learn by completing all the course, and then assisting them that we could have been in any number of rooms on that day, but we weren’t. We were in that room, with those shells on the wall.

I sank into the belief, the knowing, that this was exactly where I was meant to be. That I had made this happen in my life through the right choices for MY LIFE. Everything to that point were decisions that led me there. I was reminded to trust. To have faith. I need to make choices and when I come from a place of honesty, of faith, of trust that they will always be the right ones for me. It’s when I turn off that I make choices that are not aligned with the life that I want to lead that I make choices that are the “shoulds” which ultimately end up being wrong choices.

I am forever grateful for that night with Cheryl and the Conscious Divas community that brought my closer to my intuition, to my path for the life I want and for allowing me to start the journey of testing.the universe.  Cause you know what, even now from time to time I still like to test it…just to be sure.  😉

I wonder, what choices are you pondering?   Where would you like a little support from the universe?  Let’s talk about that h in the Facebook community and get the universe working for you!

I am a coach, a speaker, an advocate of mentorship for women and girls and a life-list enthusiast.  Always on the look-out for a new adventure and enjoys living on my edge, I believe in Living a Life YOU Love.  That looks different for every single one of us.  I am completely committed to effecting women to live their richest, fullest, most kick-ass lives and am having a blast doing it!  In true transparency  I am working on my web site and some offerings for my clients, but I don’t want to let that get in the way of doing one-on-one coaching, which I love, so while this may be my best web presence at the moment – www.coachmichaella.com I have so much more to offer either through www.facebook.com/coachmichaella or in person and on the phone.  I love to converse over www.twitter.com/coachmichaella or info@coachmichaella.com too, so please drop me a line.

Synchronicity: the hidden language of FLOW

by Cheryl Brewster

We are surrounded by a sea of abundance that flows to us!

  • How many times do you think of someone and they call?
  • Do you see recurring sequences of numbers every time you see a digital time display, like 111, 333,  555, etc?
  • Have you pondered an important question to have a billboard or licence plate in front of you declare the answer?
  • When you’re looking for something have you had someone hand it to you without them knowing you needed it?
  • Have you waited in traffic or been detoured only to find the billboard message on a passing vehicle displays what you just finished telling someone at that exact moment?

The odds of having such coincidences occur is mind boggling.  Given the obvious intricate intelligence behind such occurrences, we must ask ourselves, if these things are happening without our conscious involvement, what could happen if we brought more awareness to them? Can you imagine the possibilities, solutions and innovations that could be accessed?! How could this impact our self development and personal effectiveness?

In her book Synchronicity and the Soul, Nancy Seifer explains that it was the power of synchronicity to overwhelm the rational mind that held significance for Carl Jung (1875-1961), the Swiss psychiatrist who coined the term and brought the phenomenon to light.  Jung recognized that synchronicity, which he defined as meaningful coincidence, had the effect of breaking through the “rationalistic shell” of the modern scientific mind.

“(Synchronicity) is a form of coincidence powerful enough to shatter the notion that material science has discovered all there is to know about the universe.  To the person having an experience of synchronicity, the realization dawns that a mysterious force is at play in the world—a kind of “cosmic clock” whose gears operate on a more subtle plane.”

This echoes Deepak Chopra’s poetic words that “Synchronicity is choreographed by a great, pervasive intelligence that lies at the heart of nature, and is manifest in each of us through intuitive knowledge.”

And this pervasive intelligence is ours even without asking! All we have to do is pay attention to the Signs, Symbols and Synchronicity at play in our lives.
We are surrounded by a sea of abundance… but are we actually in flow with it or fighting it?

I’ve been a fan of this amazing principle of intuition for as long as I can remember and find it incredibly helpful in important decision making  and in situations requiring more clarity and validation. I often tell the story in my seminars of how I used a “Bookmark” to determine when I should follow the call from my intuition to leave the corporate world to begin my own business as a professional intuitive.  Although I knew in my heart that this was the right thing to do, it didn’t match the rational thought of my upbringing… My mind screamed no and my heart say yes, even though I’d be leaving a great company, significant income with benefits, and most of all, the security of a guaranteed paycheck for  nothing but a gut feeling and a dream.

Setting a bookmark is a specific technique that finds its beginnings in ancient times and remains just as powerful today.  In my experience, I used a symbol that was fairly uncommon – a boomerang – the “bookmark agreement”with the Universe was that when a real boomerang came into my life, I would know that yes, now is the time to leave the job.  (But I must admit, because this was such a big decision, I thought I’d help the universe out by adding a proviso that either one real boomerang came into my life or three smaller ones which could be in the form of a TV commercial, ad on a billboard, etc).

You can imagine my shock and delight when after a couple of weeks, feeling rather disheartened that the symbol hadn’t arrived yet, I’d picked up a book that I’d recently purchased. The book itself wasn’t something I was particularly interested in, however my gut “told” me that I “had to buy it.” As I flipped through it, I came across an interesting paragraph and there, deep into the story did I not only find the word boomerang “three times,” but I also found the meaning of the word… the boomerang is a sacred symbol cautioning us not to hold onto things too tightly,  for it’s only in surrendering and giving them to the universe, that they can be returned to us in bigger ways.

WOW!

I was shaking. This was something that you see in the movies or read about in books… this happened to other people, not to me! And here I was, not only with three small boomerangs, but with the meaning of the word as a sacred symbol!  I gave my notice the next day and have been privileged to live an extraordinary life beyond anything I could have imagined because “I was willing to let go and not hang on too tight.”

Powerful, beyond all odds and four months later, when I taught my first intuitive workshop in Whistler, what did the store carry? Two decorative boomerangs which I promptly bought. The third I added to my collection when again, trusting my gut to go to a certain store, only to find a boomerang with the engraving “authentic souvenir of Australia.”

Having worked with synchronicity my entire life, to go through an experience as specific and mind blowing as this made a huge impact.  I’ve come to appreciate that when we ACTIVELY participate with the “great, pervasive intelligence that lies at the heart of nature,” not only do synchronicities happen with more frequency, so too do miracles. Can you imagine the impact to families, business and organizations to harness the power of synchronicity both as an art and tool of science for brainstorming and team building? Can you imagine the solution and innovation?  The possibilities are staggering, and like all great things, it begins with us as individuals to apply and hone the hidden language that Signs, Symbols and Synchronicity in our own lives, to test and prove them. To create more FLOW in your home and professional life, consider what would happen if you:

  • asked clear specific questions of the vast intelligence awaiting you?
  • paid attention to what you were thinking before a sign, symbol or synchronicity crossed your path?
  • asked for clear, specific signs to underline or highlight a feasible action or direction to take
  • did a life review of where synchronicity has been the most prevalent in your affairs
  • discovered when there was no synchronicity in your life to find the patterns that prevent rather than propel FLOW in your life
  • willing to participate more fully with this great pervasive intelligence?

Basic tools to grow your awareness and appreciation of Synchronicity and self improvement:

  • notice the thought you were thinking just before a synchronicity happened
  • be clear on your desires, write them down and expect their fulfillment, by feeling them here now
  • keep a journal to acknowledge synchronicity
  • use ritual to honor it in your life
  • be firm and clear in your commitments
  • be diligent in replacing negative thinking with positive thought
  • ask specific questions (better yet, write them down and journal the answers when they come)
  • expect an answer without  attachment to how or when it is delivered, or if it looks different than you originally intended
  • learn more and resist less by spending more time in mindful contemplation and deep silence

We are surrounded by a sea of abundance that flows to us! By paying attention to signs, symbols and synchronicity, we harness the hidden power of flow in life and business. By applying it, we create the change we’ve been wanting and more. Dead without Desire – Re-inspire your Life and Business

by Cheryl Brewster

What does the word desire mean to you?

  • Is it vibrantly alive in your life?
  • Are you ticking off those magnificent milestones on your bucket list which can be as simple as weekly bubble baths or as exotic as trips to far-off places?
  • Is it about achieving that long-held dream that you’ve held precious in your heart for as long as you can remember?
  • Or is it something that feels elusive, that you haven’t really nailed down yet, and can’t seem to?
  • Is it downright annoying that right now, you just don’t know what your desire is?
  • Conversely,  does it feel hedonistic, selfish or wrong; always last  on your list after you’ve taken care of your responsibilities in life… e.g., getting “reality” taken care of before you can “go out and play?”

Desire is a hugely important life component that needs cultivating. It’s the stuff  that life is made of… that first kiss, that first job or business deal, the answer to the question “I wonder what it would be like to…?”  Desire may start off as vibrant, raw energy seeking to express itself, or it may bubble up  quietly over time, into a non-negotiable, in your blood, irrevocable “I just have to” drive that focuses on nothing less than  full completion..

Like a burning ember, keen for the passion of potential completing itself, desire needs fuel to become the flame… it must be fed to grow into the exquisite brilliance of accomplishment..  Napoleon Hill said it best over 70 years ago:

Strong, richly rooted desire, is the starting point of all achievement,
not a hope, not a wish, but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything.”

But how do we get there when we’re just not feeling the vibe?

Modern day Russian author Vadim Zeland describes some key components in his book Reality Transurfing in a chapter entitled “Forward to the Past:”

Don’t’ wait for the future… Bring it into the current moment… allow yourself to have, right here right now.
This is about DETERMINATION…
The intention to have, contrary to the process of constantly fighting yourself.
The determination to have contains by far, more power than the determination to act.
You need to be completely ready to let yourself have.

This is inspiring, “shake-it up” stuff ! In other words, drop the internal fighting, and be absolutely diligent and determined to have the mindset of “letting yourself have.”  It starts with a feeling, or in-your-bones-knowing.  Best selling Canadian author Danielle Laporte echoes Zeland’s words in her brilliant tell-it-like-it-is style in  The Desire Map:

You’re not chasing the goal, you’re chasing a FEELING you hope reaching the goal will give you.  We have the procedures of achievement upside down. We go after the stuff we want to have and accomplish outside of ourselves, and we hope and pray that we’ll feel great when we get there. It’s backwards. And it’s burning us out.

What if, first we got clear on how we actually wanted to feel in our life, and then we set our intentions?
What if your core desired feelings, consciously, informed how you plan your day, your year – your life?

All authors quoted in this blog are Conscious Changemakers  encouraging us to be bold in revolutionizing our lives by leading with desire. It’s important! Laporte’s words are riveting:

It’s OK to want what you want. In fact, if you don’t start there, with actually owning your desire, you are doomed.
Own the wanting. without apology, and all good things will start to flow from claiming the desire.
We can’t hedge with desire.

So looping back to the first question of this blog:
What does desire mean to you now?
Have you been hedging with it… just dipping your toe in, rather than diving in fully?
Have you let your desire energy wane?
Are you wanting to give up? Maybe you just need to make changes so desire can blossom through different channels?
Its okay when things don’t turn out the way we want or expect them to! It just means there’s something better; there is always an equal or greater benefit to any circumstance in our life… but we must be WILLING to look for it… and be completely ready to let ourselves have it.

What single thing can you do to harness the revitalizing power of desire

  • in your job, career or business?
  • with those you love?
  • with the state of your health, prosperity  or financial affairs?
  • with HOW you live your life?

Heady stuff, isn’t it?! How exciting to give flight to our innermost desires with determination to bring those core, accomplished feelings into the here and now. It’s where all of our best work is done… we’ve proven it before so let’s do it again! It’s time to cut loose from same old, and refresh, rejuvenate and re-inspire our lives and businesses… Take Your Stand for what you desire and feel its accomplishment here now!

The Healing Power of Imagination – It Works!!!

by Cheryl Brewster

Stress can be deadly. While short-term stress can create anxiousness and overwhelm, we know all too well, that the cumulative affects of stress over time diminishes both the quality and quantity of life. A 2013  report from the  American Psychological Association, American Institute of Stress, in New York reported that:

  • The annual costs to employers in stress related health care and missed work is $300 BILLION!
  • Of people who regularly experience physical symptoms, 77%  are caused by stress
  • 73% Regularly experience psychological symptoms caused by stress
  • 48% Feel their stress has increased over the past five years

What does this mean to you?

  • With 48% of those studied feeling that stress has increased over the past five years, you have a 50/50 chance of being a part of this growing statistic.
  • If you are a person committed to self growth, you are going to experience stress as you challenge your comfort zones
  • Finding tools that are effective, get results and reverse the stress/death connection are imperative
  • The ability to do things differently is paramount
  • One of the fastest, easiest, most effective tools is the healing power of imagination, and it costs us nothing! Except willingness,  a paradigm shift and a bit of time

How imagination heals

In his book Jung and the Alchemical Imagination, author Jeffrey Raff concludes that “disease is never a purely physical event, but includes the spirit as well.” He  says that imagination can be responsible for the onset of disease, and has a great part to play in its healing. Authors Ann and Barry Ulanov of the Healing Imagination concur; they believe  imagination helps us correspond to grace – that’s how it heals.

This is where it gets personal for each of us so using myself as an example: As a business intuitive I teach  big picture thinking,  as a coach I mentor spiritual healing , and as a  mother, to nurture and guide my children,  I rely on the healing power of imagination in::

  • its ability to get my attention
  • using all of my senses
  • waking me up to a bigger picture of life that includes  healing,  solutions and creativity that I couldn’t otherwise see
  • getting me  out of the nonsense of my negative self talk

Simple Strategies to harness the healing power of imagination:

  1. Ask yourself, “what would effortlessness do?” to get   out of the stress habit and into pure imagination
  2. Breathe into your imagination ….  create some space for it
  3. Use Active Imagination (a process that Carl Jung created), as the bridge between the conscious and the subconscious (this includes dream interpretation, visualization, and daydreaming)
  4. Whatever stress or illness may be in your life, view it as a movie…. how did it get there? What will help to heal it? Notice the pictures, images or body sensations that you experience
  5. Commit to take some form of action…. write down what had the most compelling energy from the above  and use discernment… will action on your part take you further into grace or farther away from it?
  6. Do more of what you love… the state changes created from simple things like your favorite song, exercise,  a favorite flavor of chewing gum or fresh flowers take you to a much higher energy frequency which improves corresponding critical thinking and decision making
  7. Pay attention to signs, symbols and synchronicity
  8. Have a check-in or feedback loop to test and measure the results so you can drop what doesn’t work and expand what does

Embrace Simplicity
Stress becomes ugly, rampant and deadly when we lose our capacity to live from our imagination. Just take a look at the results in your life right now: where there’s shortage, lack or illness, there will be one of two things: lack of positive imagination or undisciplined, negative imagination. Until you become aware, nothing will change… the steps outlined here are beautifully simple. Are they so simple however, that you won’t take them? Imagine what would happen if you did?

Following your “Calling” in Life and Business

by Cheryl Brewster

Do you have a “calling” for the business you’re in or the life you want to lead? Or perhaps you feel a  shift coming;  a whisper inside  that isn’t clearly audible yet. It  seems to be nudging you to something different, but you’re not sure of what that is..What is your response when this happens? Are you curious or do you unconsciously begin to go into stress mode, and shut down? So many of us judge uncertainty, missing out on its gifts, but it’s a very important and necessary phase of self growth.

Re-frame uncertainty – its polar opposite lies just beneath the surface
Usually the only difference between  uncertainty and trust is the decision to believe in ourselves and our ability to handle change.  Self trust can only grow from the willingness to be in discomfort and take action anyway. When we decide to trust ourselves, we release perfectionism and drop destructive self judgment. Only then can we embrace the calling for change. It takes time. It doesn’t happen over night.

Uncertainty can be frightening and paralyze us from taking action, no matter how powerful our dreams are.   Gregg Levoy in his book “Callings”  describes this beautifully: “We love to quote the philosopher and poet Goethe who said that “whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.” But we forget that he also said, “To put your ideas into action is the most difficult thing in the world.”

It all begins with our willingness to be in the discomfort of uncertainty and re-framing that discomfort into action

The poem in the head is always perfect, Stanley Kuntiz once remarked. The challenge comes when we try to convert it into language. This is especially so when we discover, as we often do, that saying yes to a calling requires not just one act of heroism and risk taking but a prolonged period of action that can stretch into years.”

How do we maintain the heroism required for these long periods of time?

1. Use the breath to be with your fear of lack, whether that’s time, money or control, etc. Witness it, let it be there and acknowledge the subsequent feelings.
2. Notice the chemical reactions in your body… very powerful! But are you these chemical reactions or the awareness of them?
3. As the Awareness... what do you now choose to create? Breathe through uncertainty, let it be there which allows you to actually  let it go. As the Awareness, connect to what’s been here all along; trust in yourself and in life.
4. Always take time to be present with the breath; it releases the fear of change and puts the peace and confidence of your inner knowing back in the driver’s seat of your life.

Uncertainty is a part of following your calling. Putting your ideas into action is the most difficult thing in the world. Solutions begin with the breath; it slows things down, brings you back to the present, releases stress and invites clarity. Be brave; be willing to slow down and do things differently.

Business Stress – 3 Ways Intuition Can Help

by Cheryl Brewster

As a conscious minded business person, your goal is to provide the highest quality products and services in the most efficient, sustainable methods possible, with customer satisfaction and healthy profit.. But what happens when challenges come up that rock your world? Our knee-jerk reactions take over. Big Time. While some reactions can be  effective, most are not.  Intuitive Development plays a critical role in catching those gut-wrenching situations and transforming them into effective learning experiences. The caveat here however, is that we must be willing to re-frame how we look at ourselves and stress.

How Intuition helps to  reduce business stress:

1. Rule number one in intuitive development is to breathe.
Over time we learn to look at breathing in a whole new way:  slowly, deeply, consciously and deliberately.
This kicks us out of the “fight or flight” sequence and gets us connected back to our body wisdom. Otherwise, the huge rush of chemicals released in the body can take over our perspective and we all know what happens… we react (based on the past) rather than respond (based on the present). Without taking time to breathe, we simply repeat old patterns again and again. We’ve heard this a million times… breathe deeply and slowly, but are we actually doing it?
TIP: Use association. Choose something that happens frequently and use it as a reminder… for example…. every time your phone rings, use it as a marker to check-in and breathe slowly, deeply, consciously and deliberately before you answer it.

2.  How would you feel if everything was really okay?
Our intuition has access to the bigger picture that the five senses don’t.  Just take a look at nature’s beauty and perfection – there’s an invisible harmony that runs our world – when we breathe into that inner harmony, we operate from a success minded perspective. Our job becomes less fear-driven and more purpose driven; by allowing this inner harmony to emerge through us, we become aware of possibilities we didn’t see before..  We think more clearly.  Intuition draws from this creative space while fear prevents our access to it.
TIP: Re-frame stress as a  signal to refocus on the inner harmony already inside of you; it builds supreme self trust and improves the thinking process.

3. How would you act if you were already successful?
Ask this simple question in any situation and see what happens! You’ll feel instant relief and guidance and find it easier to drop ineffective thinking patterns.
TIP: Make this question a new practice by using your tea or coffee break to sit with the answers. Be sure to keep a journal handy!

The bottom line: Intuitive Principles reduce stress and add an element of self discovery. They increase profit by creating a new perspective of trust and freeing up stuck energy. Intuitive Development takes time and practice but it’s affects can be felt immediately.  Our biggest challenge as entrepreneurs is to give ourselves the same time, care and attention we give to our customers. Start small and build from there… these three simple steps can have profound affects on your business!

How do I love Me? Let Me Count the Ways!

by Cheryl Brewster

Do you love yourself as much as you wish to be loved?
Do you gift yourself the nurturing that you most crave?
Do you allow yourself to receive even when it feels uncomfortable?
Are you willing to be present with your pain and let blame go?

“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” Rumi

While Valentines is traditionally for lovers and romance, Rumi’s quote invites introspection whether you are in a romantic relationship or not. Are you willing to find the barriers within that prevent love’s full experience?

In my mentoring with clients and in my own life, the significance of self-love is HUGE! We live in a society that is rush, rush, rush…. I’m beginning to believe that the highest form of self-love is extricating ourselves from the death grip of frantic, frenetic over commitments and schedules. To that end, Valentines becomes a very important Self-Love Day:

1. What can I give myself today, that contributes to my own self acceptance?
2. Imagine never saying an unkind thing to yourself again! What would that do to your outlook?
3. Tap even more to the divine mind within. What’s there? What’s life like from this expanded perspective? What would the goddess/god within say to you about you?
4. What regret or judgment can you let go of, to love yourself/others more fully?
5. If you had no barriers to loving yourself/others, how would that change your perception of “reality?”
6. What is that rare, unique quality within you that you have been shy of sharing? Could you share a bit of it today in celebration of the Love you have for you, for the sheer joy of life itself?

Mindfulness this Valentine’s:
1. Being present with your experience without judging it.
2. Paying attention in a particular way.
3. Being on Purpose

Happy Valentines to your Inner Lover… when we move to the divine heart within, we let go with more ease, release the need to control, we give ourselves the most amazing gift of all….

“When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy.” Rumi

What does a soul-centred relationship, business, daily schedule look like? We’ll know by how much joy runs through it. We’ll know by how much we’re trusting our soul’s voice, and acting on our intuition.

4 keys to Mindfulness in Business

by Cheryl Brewster

Mindfulness is the act of bringing your awareness to whatever you’re experiencing in the present moment. Mindfulness is critical to successful business practices.  It increases alertness, awareness and effectiveness that comes from a higher plane of wisdom. Without  it, we’re coming from a lesser version of ourselves and our vision. We’re coming from the local mind rather than the nonlocal mind (in other words, coming from our human perceptions of appearances, rather than the expansive, creative power of our inner genius…. a.k.a., our Intuition).

How mindful are you?
Four important questions to ask yourself in regards to your business or career:

1. Am I paying attention in a particular way?
For example, am I paying attention in a particular way that……….(you fill in the blank):
… is coming from the deep wisdom/intelligence/guidance inside of me?
… in a way that is evolving the quality of my experience?
… that is in alignment with my highest ideals?
… that is allowing my highest wisdom to express itself in new ways in my business or career?

2. Am I on purpose with this thought/action?

3. Am I truly present in my business or am I distracted, stuck in the past or worried about the future?

4. Am I non-judgmental?
Example:when I become aware that I need to course correct, how do I respond to challenges or mistakes: do I shut down, react and maintain old patterns that need to be challenged?

Think of it this way; you know what you want from your business or career, but how mindfully are you really allowing and creating it? Are you coming from the local mind (personality) that is pressured by habit or judging appearances? Or are you willing to cross that discomfort threshold of stopping everything, to pause and “really” listen to the nonlocal mind – that vast, calm  guidance and knowing  inside you? This guidance knows and sees the bigger picture beyond the logical mind and always points to peace and solid solutions. When we choose mindfulness, the power of the logical mind with  self awareness and self discipline, can then serve to support – to be the faithful servant rather than the  driven, controlling task master.

We spend so much time at work,
But our level of mindfulness may be sadly lacking, especially if we’re going through a hard or challenging time. Defining what Mindfulness is to you in your business is important. One of the best definitions I’ve seen comes from Jon Kabat-Zinn who says it’s about paying attention in a particular way; on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally.

Mindfulness helps us stay, present,
And focused, effective, on target and in flow with what builds us up and not on what tears us down It ensures we stay on track with what is best for us and our businesses; it keeps us connected to our inner business genius that we all have, whether we’re trained in business or not . It brings clarity to confusion, resolution to challenge, but most importantly, has a transformative quality that keeps building and fine tuning our intuition and effectiveness.

As Wallace Wattles in the Science of Getting Rich identified, “There is a thinking stuff from which all things are made…. The resources of supply are at the command of the man or woman who will act and think in a certain way… (but)… you must begin to live in harmony with the laws governing the universe.” In my experience, mindfulness keeps me connected to these resources of harmony and supply.. it ensures I align myself to the laws governing the universe.

Mindfulness becomes an important practice.
not always easy to initiate and like any good thing, it takes effort to maintain, however with practice, it becomes a pathway in  life that is extraordinary…. It takes us out of the mundane and into indescribable possibilities that we would have missed otherwise. It truly cultivates innovation, creativity and solutions not accessible by the linear, logical mind. And that’s what’s needed in today’s business economy, our efforts personally and locally, affect our world  globally.

Mindfulness helps us become aware of what we may be overlooking.
It keeps us in our centre… and that’s a powerful place of evolution that moves striving and struggle into doing business with more ease.  In asking the 4 questions listed at the top of this blog, we slow down, we ensure alignment with our core principles and values, we make space for what we don’t know to grow ourselves and our business.

“Mindfulness gives you time. Time gives you choices. Choices, skillfully made, lead to freedom. You don’t have to be swept away by your feeling. You can respond with wisdom and kindness rather than habit and reactivity.”  ~ Bhante Henepola Gunaratana
